A Taxonomy of Queer Game Design Experiences in MMO Games (2022)

Undertaken during my ongoing master’s in game development, this paper was produced in relation to an advanced GUX course. Applying extensive literature review to develop a taxonomy of queer game design and a case study of Final Fantasy XIV, the paper was later approved for publication in the upcoming book What Happens When We Play: a critical approach to games user experience design and education, by Rouse, R., Berg Marklund, B., & Alklind Taylor, A-S. (forthcoming).

The taxonomy developed in this paper is currently being researched in my master’s thesis.
